Who it's for

A C5 visa is required for a foreign national planning to open a company in Kazakhstan or join the founders of an existing one. Without a C5 visa, a foreigner cannot be a founder or shareholder of a commercial organization in the country.

Activity requiring a C5 visa includes both registering a new legal entity and acquiring a stake in an existing business. The visa is issued only to adult applicants.

Required documents

We prepare the full document package and support the application — from the petition letter from the company to representing your interests through a proxy if personal presence isn't possible.

  • Passport (original)
  • Visa application form
  • A 3.5×4.5 cm photo
  • A petition letter from the host company in Kazakhstan
  • A power of attorney — if your interests are represented by a proxy

Worth knowing in advance

  • The standard review period is 7–10 business days
  • A C5 visa doesn't replace a separate work permit — business immigrant status is governed by its own set of rules
  • Documents issued abroad may require an apostille or consular legalization in the issuing country
  • Citizens of EAEU countries don't need a C5 visa to do business in Kazakhstan — a business-immigrant TRP is issued instead

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

How long does a C5 visa take to process?+
The standard review period is 7–10 business days; the exact timing depends on your situation and how busy the authorities are.
Does the C5 visa allow me to work in Kazakhstan?+
The C5 visa is intended for business and investment activity as a founder. If you also plan to hold an employed position, a separate work permit may be required — we review this individually.
Do citizens of EAEU countries need a C5 visa?+
No, EAEU citizens doing business in Kazakhstan get a business-immigrant TRP instead of a C5 visa.
Can documents be filed through a representative?+
Yes, if personal presence isn't possible, a proxy can represent the applicant's interests — this requires a notarized power of attorney.
What if I already have a business in Kazakhstan?+
We'll help you get the visa taking into account your existing company and your role in it — for example, when acquiring a stake in an existing business.
