C3 Work Visa Extension

A C3 work visa is usually issued for one year. Extension should be initiated at least a month before it expires, so you don't have to leave the country and reapply for a visa through an embassy.

Who it's for

Extension suits foreign specialists already working in Kazakhstan on a C3 visa who plan to continue working for the same employer after the current visa expires.

A C3 visa can be extended within Kazakhstan without leaving the country — but only if the process is started early enough. For AIFC and Astana Hub participants and their employees, the visa can be extended for up to 5 years, not exceeding the validity of the underlying grounds.

How it works

We prepare the extension document package and file it with the migration authorities early enough to fit within the review timeframe.

  • The original passport — it stays with the migration authorities for the entire review period
  • A valid work permit or confirmation of the grounds for extension
  • The extension application form
  • Documents from the employer confirming the employment relationship continues

Deadlines worth not missing

  • Extension should be initiated at least one month before the current visa expires
  • Within Kazakhstan, extension takes 5 to 10 business days; in certain cases, by decision of the KNB, this can extend to 30 calendar days
  • If you miss the deadline, you'll need to leave Kazakhstan and get a new visa through an embassy or consulate at your place of permanent residence
  • Your original passport stays with the migration authorities for the whole review period — worth factoring into any travel plans
